Vaughtons enters memorial jewellery market

Birmingham-based manufacturer, Vaughtons, has entered the memorial jewellery market with the launch of Phoenix by Vaughtons, which sells memorial jewellery with ashes encapsulated within vitreous enamel.

This venture is the first direct-to-consumer business for the company, whose artisans will be creating a range of handmade memorial jewellery at its Well Street workshop in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

The manufacturer, which makes bespoke jewellery as well as medals and trophies, is based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, and has a storied 200-year history that includes making the 1908 Olympic medals.

Nick Hobbis, owner of Vaughtons, said: “Phoenix by Vaughtons has been three years in the making, and we launch after a long period of intense testing and research.

“The memorial jewellery market is relatively new to the UK and our new venture comes from a very personal place. One of my fellow directors spent months trying to find memorial jewellery after her father passed away and the ring she bought has tarnished and faded over time. We all looked at it and thought, ‘We need to do this better’. Phoenix by Vaughtons aims to put that right.”

He added: “We’ve got a team of incredible artisans in our workshop and the best suppliers in the UK. There’s no reason for anybody to be disappointed by a piece of jewellery that is so important to them. Memorial Jewellery should be a keepsake not just for the person who buys it, but as a family heirloom that can be passed down through generations. That’s why we spent so long testing and working on our techniques before we launched.”

Phoenix by Vaughtons launched this week with a capsule collection of rings, pendants and charms, and promises to expand its range throughout the year.
